This test is ideal if you've been exposed to Hepatitis B, work in healthcare, are pregnant, or have a sexual partner with Hepatitis B. It helps determine if you have an active infection, past exposure, or immunity from vaccination or previous infection. Many people use this test to confirm their vaccination worked or to screen for infection after potential exposure.
If you're taking high-dose biotin supplements (vitamin B7, B8, vitamin H, or coenzyme R), you should stop taking them at least 72 hours before your blood draw. Biotin can interfere with some of the tests in this panel and affect result accuracy. No fasting is required for this test.
This panel checks three critical markers that work together to give you a complete picture of your Hepatitis B status. The surface antigen test detects active infection, the surface antibody test confirms immunity from vaccination or past infection, and the core antibody test helps determine if your infection is recent or long-standing. Together, these measurements reveal whether you're currently infected, protected, or at risk for Hepatitis B.
What this means
Your test came back negative, meaning no Hepatitis B surface antigen was detected in your blood. This indicates you do not have an active Hepatitis B infection at this time. This is the expected and healthy result.
Recommended actions

Practice safe sex with barrier protection and avoid sharing needles or personal care items
